LEVELS IN THE STARSKATE PATHWAY

TFSC has a long and proud StarSkate history; offering the StarSkate program since Thornhill’s first year back in 1975. Many of our members have gone on to become Provincial Medallists & Champions!

Skaters are required to skate a minimum number of sessions per week depending on the level. All skaters must have a TFSC private coach.

STAR 4-5 (3-5 Days/Week)

Skaters must be landing an Axel to qualify. At this level, skaters are working on their Star 4 & 5 assessments and preparing for the Skate Ontario Provincial Competition Series.

STAR 6 – 10 (4-5 Days/Week)

This program is aimed at skaters working on the Star 6 to Gold level assessments. Skaters are also preparing for the Skate Ontario Provincial Competition Series.

  • Off-ice is an extremely important part of your skater’s development in strength, agility and flexibility. Good off-ice training can greatly enhance and accelerate your skater’s improvement. Please refer to our schedule as well as The Rotation Room for opportunities to supplement your skater’s training.

  • It’s recommended that skates be sharpened after approximately 20-25 hours of skating. This is also dependant on quality of care and skater preference. We highly recommend Jake’s Skate Sharpening, located at 14 Essex Ave (Unit 28), for your sharpening needs.

  • The thrill of performance is an extremely rewarding part of a figure skater’s journey. Once you have a private coach, they will guide your skater towards preparing for competitions. A skater will perform at events approximately 3 – 5 times a season so they can gain experience and grow their skill set as an athlete.
